• Hello and Welcome to 5th grade!

I am so excited to start out a great year here at Georgia School for the Innovation and the Classics. My name is Dawn Luck and I will be your child’s fifth grade Social Studies teacher this year. My goal is to have a place of growing knowledge and acceptance in my classroom. I hope that we will be able to work towards a successful year together.

Now a little about myslef. I have lived in Hephzibah, Georgia for the last 30 years.  Before I went back to school I worked as Pre-K and K-5 teachers. I also worked as directors in local church day cares. In 2007 I went back to school at Augusta State University and I graduated in December 2012 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. For the first few years I substituted in local Richmond County schools. I am very excited to have my own class and to be teaching Social Studies!

I have been married to my amazing husband, Paul, and we just celebrated our 31st anniversary.  We have two children; a daughter, Michelle, who is 28 years old and a son Damon who is 24 years old. We have recently become an "empty nest" household and although we miss our children being home, we are enjoying our time together. We still have our fur babies; two Shihzu and Maltese mixed dogs named Bella and Cocoa.

Teaching has always been a passion for me. I have a love for learning and hope to instill that love in my students by making my classroom a safe, fun and disciplined place for my students. I want them to enjoy coming to my classroom and learning something new everyday. I feel that all children are different and require specific attention and affection for them to flourish. I will strive to be that for each of my students; an educator who loves each child that walks in her door and gives each of them not only an education but a passion to learn.

    Your Teacher,
    Dawn Luck
